Privacy notice
Your information is personal. We treat it that way. This notice explains what the current Toomi website collects, why we use it and the choices you have.
1. Who is responsible for your information?
Toomi is a proposed digital credit business preparing an application for a Bank of Ghana Digital Credit Services Provider licence. The registered company name, registration number, principal office, Data Protection Commission registration details and dedicated privacy contact will be added here before public launch.
2. What does this website collect?
Very little. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you provide it, and whatever you choose to write. Our hosting service may also process basic technical information—such as your IP address, browser type, device information and security logs—to deliver and protect the website.
Please do not send Ghana Card images, selfies, Mobile Money PINs, bank details or loan applications by email. We do not ask for them on this website.
3. Why do we use it?
- To reply when you contact us.
- To keep the website working and secure.
- To understand and fix technical problems.
- To meet legal or regulatory duties that apply to us.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. What will the future service need?
When Toomi launches, the app may need information such as your contact details, Ghana Card data, a verification selfie, loan information, repayment records and approved payment details. We will explain each item, its purpose, whether it is required, who may receive it and how long it is kept before collecting it.
We will not read private photos, message your contacts or use public shaming to collect a debt.
5. Who may receive your information?
We may use carefully selected service providers to host and secure this website or help us answer enquiries. They may use information only for the work we ask them to do. We may also disclose information when Ghanaian law requires it or when a lawful regulator or authority requests it.
After launch, any sharing of credit information with a licensed credit bureau will follow applicable law and consent requirements. Details will appear in the service privacy notice.
6. How long do we keep it?
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the reason it was collected, to resolve a concern, protect the website or meet a legal duty. Final retention periods for lending records will be published before the service launches.
7. How do we protect it?
We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards designed to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorised access. No website or electronic system can promise perfect security, but we will review and improve our safeguards as the service develops.
8. Your choices and rights
Under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, you may have the right to:
- Know whether and why we use your personal information.
- Ask for access to information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
- Object to or ask us to stop certain uses.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on consent.
- Raise a complaint with us or the Data Protection Commission.
- Ask that an important decision is not made only by automated processing, where the law applies.
9. Children
Toomi’s planned credit service is for people aged 18 and over. This website is not intended to collect personal information from children.
10. Updates to this notice
We may update this notice as Toomi moves toward licensing and launch. We will post the new version here and change the effective date. If a change is important, we will make it easy to see.
11. Questions or complaints
For now, email hello@toomi.com.gh. A dedicated privacy contact and physical office details will be published before launch.
You may also learn about your rights or make a complaint through the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
